Rep. Post New Law Cuts Red Tape Helping Small Businesses in Oregon

by Rep. Bill Post

Today Governor Kate brown signed HB 2969 into law. In 2007 the Oregon legislature created the indoor clean air act which ended smoking in public places. In 2011 the legislature addressed cigar shops that meet certain requirements. One of the unintended consequences was that no food or drink was allowed on the premise. HB 2969 simply allows the consumption of food or drink on the premise of exempted certified cigar shops.

“When I campaigned last year I promised to shrink government and cut red tape for small businesses and with HB 2969, my first bill, we accomplished that.”
